About the Habitat Volunteer Community
The Habitat Volunteer Community is a place for volunteers to explore program opportunities, ask questions, access resources, build relationships and create connections with fellow volunteers. It facilitates learning about Habitat for Humanity's global work and the many ways volunteers can make a difference for Habitat's mission. We are excited to have you join us as we seek unique ways to interact, engage and learn from one another.
Ways to participate
- Personalize your profile with pictures and information about yourself.*
- Read the materials we have provided.
- Share your knowledge or lessons learned that can bring value to others. We all learn more together.
- Ask questions! Community staff and team leaders are ready to be a resource.
- Share your feedback. We need your insight to improve this community.
*Please know that by uploading a profile photo and sharing your name in the Habitat Volunteer Community, others will be able to see this photo and your name if you make any comments in a build page or if another community member visits your profile. You can update your privacy settings from your profile page.
Guidelines for using the Habitat Volunteer Community
- Be positive and appropriate. Respect people as individuals by keeping your tone positive and your comments constructive. No inappropriate language, emojis, texts, video clips, photos or any other form of expression or content will be shared on the site. This includes but is not limited to curse/swear words, violent images, sexually explicit images, discriminatory/abusive/offensive words or symbols. Do not solicit or advertise within the community. Please remember that the opinions of Habitat Volunteer Community moderators, posters and commentators are their own and not necessarily that of Habitat for Humanity.
- Respect confidentiality. Do not post anything that would violate any contractual agreements (copyright, trade secret or otherwise) or nondisclosure agreements to which you are a party. Do not post sensitive information about your organization or place of work.
- Protect privacy. As a rule, do not share information about yourself or your organization that you would not want to see on a roadside billboard. Do not share anything that violates the privacy policy of your organization or other third-party social media websites. Also, information shared on the site is solely for use on this site and is not to be shared with or posted to external persons or groups.
Reporting inappropriate content and behavior
If you recognize any violation of these guidelines, please contact the community manager at gv@habitat.org and let us know why you feel the content is inappropriate. If you wish to report concerns anonymously or when regular means of reporting concerns have not resolved an issue, contact the Habitat Ethics and Accountability Line to communicate concerns to Habitat 24 hours a day.
